* PARISH COUNCIL MEETING. Will be held on Wednesday, Septembar 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room.
* PARISH 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. With great joy, giving thanks to God and under the heavenly intercession of our patron saint, St. Leopold Mandić, we invite you to the solemn celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of our parish community. We celebrate four decades of growth in faith, preservation of our Catholic tradition, Croatian culture and unity in the National Capital Region with a solemn Eucharist and community gathering. The Holy Mass at 11 a.m. will be presided over by Msgr. Marcel Damphousse, Archbishop of Ottawa-Cornwall. After the mass, an exhibition on the history of our parish will be presented in the church hall, which will be moved later on to the church. Parish luncheon and brotherly gathering to follow. Let us give thanks together for past graces and pray for the blessed future of our parish!
Ticket prices are: $30 for adults, $20 for students, free for children under 6 years of age. Luncheon reservations: Tomislav Šamija (613-791-0416) or parish office (613-722-7135).
* REGISTRATION OF COMMUNICANTS AND CONFIRMANDS. On Friday, September 11, after Mass we will have registration of candidates for the First Communion (2nd grade and older) and Confirmation (6th grade and older) in our church. Mass begins at 6:30 p.m., so the meeting will start around 7:00 p.m. Classes will start after that, following the schedule we set on that meeting.
* THE CHILDREN LITURGY OF THE WORD DURING MASS. We are happy to offer a Children’s Liturgy of the Word once a month during our regular 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass starting this fall to the end of the year. Schedule: September 13th, October 18th, November 1st, December 6th. The Children’s Liturgy is designed for children ages 4–7, or until they receive their First Communion. All ages are welcome and children under 4 will need to be accompanied by an adult. This will offer children an opportunity to hear and explore the Sunday Gospel in a way that is engaging, welcoming, and appropriate for their age.
How It Works? At the beginning of Mass, children remain with their families in the church. When it is time for the Children’s Liturgy, the priest will invite the children to come forward. They will then head downstairs with Pastoral Council volunteers Maria Muradori or Stephanie Gluscic, who will lead the Children’s Liturgy. During the Liturgy, the children: Hear the Sunday Gospel from an age-appropriate way. Reflect on and discuss the Gospel together. Participate in activities such as colouring, crafts, puzzles, word searches, mazes and other activities. After the homily, the children return to the church and rejoin their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist and the remainder of Mass. We look forward to welcoming our youngest parishioners!
