* INDIGENOUS RECONCILIATION FUND. The finish line is in sight. More than 80% of our Archdiocese’s $1.2 million Indigenous Reconciliation Fund pledge has already been reached. Funds raised have supported healing and community-building initiatives through Kateri Native Ministry, Minwaashin Lodge, Isaruit Inuit Arts and Madahòkì Farm. A diocesan collection for the Indigenous Reconciliation Fund will take place on Sunday, June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day. * DEATH NOTIFICATIONS. On Monday, June 1, at the age of 73, our active parishioner Marica Šarić has passed away in Ottawa. The wake will take place at Kelly Funeral Home Kanata, 580 Eagleson Road, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place in our church on Monday, June 8, at 11 a.m., following by burial at the Hope Cemetery.
On the same day, our parishioner Ante (Toni) Jovanović has passed away in Ottawa at the age of 88. Burial was yesterday at noon, at Pinecrest Cemetery. May the Lord grant them eternal rest and comfort to their families and friends.
* CORPUS CHRISTI. Today is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). After the Mass, the Holy Sacrament will be exposed for the solemn veneration. Stay a little longer in adoration and prayer before Christ present in the Host.
* SCREENING OF THE FILM „260 DAYS“. The screening of the film "260 Days" will be held in our church hall on Sunday, June 14th after Mass. The film is based on the novel based on the true story of Marijan Gubina. The film depicts the life of ten-year-old Marijan and his family, whose peaceful and idyllic life is suddenly destroyed by the Homeland War. Please note that the film has a war theme, and caution is recommended for sensitive viewers. Admission is $20, and the proceeds will be used to make the first feature film about Vukovar. * NOMINATIONS FOR THE 62nd HNNS TOURNAMENT QUEEN FOR JADRAN OTTAWA. We are accepting nominations for the 62nd HNNS Tournament Queen for Jadran Ottawa. The tournament Queen has been a long standing tradition for the HNNS and the prestige of being nominated and selected is a huge honour for our club. Nominations are open until June 23rd with selection happening at Croatian Day Picnic on June 27th. For more information or to make a nomination please contact Brian Rogic at brian.rogic@akkodisgroup.com Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age, female, from the St. Leopold Mandic Church Community and willing to attend all events of the Tournament weekend in September.
* CROATIA vs. ENGLAND VIEWING PARTY. We will be streaming the World Cup match Croatia vs. England on June 17, 2026 in our church hall. The match kicks off at 4:00 PM, with doors opening at 3:00 PM. Admission is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
* CROATIAN DAY PICNIC AND CROATIA vs. PANAMA MATCH. Jadran will host its annual Croatian Day picnic on June 27, 2026 at the Lusitania Portuguese Club of Ottawa (63 Grenfell Crescent). The event begins at 12:00 PM and will include activities for children, a performance by Croatoan, and food and beverage options. We will also be streaming the Croatia vs. Panama World Cup game, which begins at 5:00 PM. More information about Croatian Day will be announced in the coming weeks.
