* POPE’S MESSAGE FOR THE 112th WORLD DAY OF MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES. On the occasion of the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Leo XIV invites us to turn our gaze toward the children and young people who, due to war, violence, poverty, and other hardships, are forced to leave their homes and homelands. The motto of this year’s Day—"Even just one of these children"—reminds us that, before God, no person is merely a number or a statistic. Every child possesses immense dignity, for each is created in the image of God.
This message speaks with particular resonance to us, Croatian believers living abroad. Our history is marked by the experience of departure, emigration, and the search for a new home. Therefore, we cannot view the experience of migration merely as something that happens to others. We know what it means to be a newcomer, a stranger, far from home and loved ones. It is precisely this experience that calls us to be sensitive to those who are walking a similar path today.
In these days, let us pray especially for the children and young people forced to leave their homes, for separated families, and for all those who assist them. Let us pray that our Croatian Catholic communities around the world may be authentic signs of the Gospel—communities of open doors, warm encounters, and active love.
Like the Holy Family, who also knew the experience of flight and exile, let us entrust all migrants and refugees to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. May her example and Christ’s words—"I was a stranger and you welcomed me"—inspire us not to remain indifferent, but to recognize a brother and sister in every person. * NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION MASS. On September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, all are invited to a special Mass at Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, 385 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, at 7:00 p.m. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Daryold Winkler, who is of Ojibwe heritage, and will include a special choir. Members of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities will participate in the readings and Prayers of the Faithful. Please join us as we come together in prayer for healing, reconciliation and renewed relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Parking is available in the lot behind the Cathedral.

* MARIAN DEVOTION IN OCTOBER. This week starts October, the month specially dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will gather together on Sunday, half an hour before the Mass to pray Holy Rosary and Lauretan Litany. Keep in mind to pray the Rosary daily individually as well.
* FIRST FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. This week we have the First Friday and Saturday in October. First Friday of the month is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and sacramental confession. Half an hour before the Mass there will be the Eucharsitic Adoration and a chance for confession in our church. First Saturday of every month is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and prayer for vocation.
* CATECHISM CLASSES FOR THE CANDIDATES FOR THE FIRST COMMUNION AND CONFIRMANDS. Catechism classes for the candidates for the First Communion and Confirmation goes on as scheduled. This Friday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. there is a class for confirmands, and at the same time next Friday, October 9 there will be class for candidates for the First Communion. Attending Sunday Mass is an obligatory part of the preparation for the sacraments, as well as part of the Third God's Commandment.

* 15th ANNUAL ST. LEOPOLD MANDIC GOLF TOURNAMENT. The 15th Annual Church Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday October 4th at 1:00PM at Emerald Links Golf Course.
